A = Alice

Alice is a FREE innovative 3D programming environment that makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story, playing an interactive game, or a video to share on the web. Alice is a teaching tool for introductory computing. It uses 3D graphics and a drag-and-drop interface to facilitate a more engaging, less frustrating first programming experience. The program is cross-platform and a gift from Carnegie-Mellon University.

In a classroom: How?

Alice provides excellent, interactive tutorials on how learners can construct their own 3D models and offers several creative possibilities.

Alison is a wide array of FREE, online, interactive, high quality, courses on numerous topics from digital literacy to photography, to mathematics, to psychometric tests. Just sign up for some asynchronous learning at your own pace. New classes are being offered on even more topics including Business Enterprise Skills, Health Literacy, Financial and Economic issues.

Alison can be used to provide remediation or review of skills but also provides a quick update on skills in order to empower the individual.

A = Answer Garden

Answer Gardens are a happy alternative for polls and comment-systems. The benefit of an AnswerGarden is that it limits users while still keeping the expression lost in polls. It is an excellent way to get feedback in an online class!


A = Aggregation

A way to add information usually using RSS FEEDS in order to show this information on a new site.  One very common use would be using RSS feeds of news appropriate to your subject on your teacher web page so students can easily access the most current news. An example is the EDUTOPIA FEED can be found on the WELCOME page of this wiki.
