One application of Google Earth is to create simulations or a virtual sandtable where students can apply knowledge about a situation to a virtual reproduction of the incident. For example; wildland firefighters can increase their decision making skills working through a Google Earth sandtable. G =

A collaborative way to edit documents. Users with an account can share the editing/saving/revising/etc of a document (much like a wiki). GoogleDocs records all changes so the group can also revert back to previous versions of the document or look at individual changes from previous visits to the site. For more information or to create an account visit http://documents.google.com

In a classroom: How?

A way for people to collaborate on text projects asynchronously. It is limited to text and can be overwhelming because it does track ALL changes. I have found it works well for rubric or bulleted editing since there is less text and the items are short and separated. It would be cumbersome in a narrative document

Google Reader helps you find and keep track of interesting stuff on the web. You can subscribe to your favorite websites, see what your friends are sharing, and keep up with what's popular. New content comes to your Google Reader when it's posted, so you don't need to visit individual sites. Plus, Reader keeps track of which items you've read, so you only see unread items when you come back. If there's a dark blue border around an item, Reader is marking that item as read.
